I love spicy food, so I add the spicy cheese and jalapeños to mine. My Uncle Danny doesn't use the spicy cheese. He typically will layer his with cheddar for a milder dip. You can make your milder also if you don't like your dips as spicy.
Steps to make Spicy Taco Dip:
- Spread beans (you may use less than the whole 16oz can to taste) along glass baking pan
- Devein and dice 🎲 Jalapenos, spread evenly atop beans -TIP: Smaller Jalapeños are generally hotter, while larger are more mild.
- Mash avocados 🥑 spread evenly in pan
- Mix hot taco seasoning into sour cream, spread evenly
- Chop green onions and tomatoes 🍅, add both to pan along with half of the olives. Be careful not to add excess tomato juice.
- Spread shredded cheese
- Pluck whole cilantro leaves, spread to taste along with remainder of olives.
- BON APPETIT! We recommend Julio’s brand tortilla chips to dip with. Take a pic & share it!
Unlike the lifeless bean dips that are more of an afterthought than an appetizer, spicy taco dip isn't served cold buried under a heaping pile of lettuce and sour cream with only a thin layer of mild salsa to deliver the flavor. Combine the measured salt, oregano, measured pepper, and cumin in a small bowl. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and evenly sprinkle the spice mixture on both sides. This is a scrumptious taco dip. When I use all low-fat ingredients, such as low-fat sour cream and low-fat Cheddar, it still comes out so delicious!
